Gigi Hadid gave the most chill response to her arrest for cannabis possession

It’s been revealed that supermodel Gigi Hadid got herself into some hot water with airport security as she arrived for a holiday in the Cayman Islands.

The 28-year-old model had her bags searched after she touched down via a private plane in the western Caribbean with friend Leah McCarthy on July 10, only for officials to discover “ganja and utensils used for the consumption of ganja”, according to local Cayman Islands news outlet, Cayman Marl Road. Cannabis, then.

Hadid and McCarthy were then arrested and transferred to a Prisoner Detention Center and eventually released on bail.

Two days later, July 12, the pair made an official court appearance where they pleaded guilty and paid a fine of $1,000 (£920). They are facing no additional charges.

In a statement shared with the PA news agency, Hadid’s representative said: “Gigi was travelling with marijuana purchased legally in NYC (New York City) with a medical licence. It has also been legal for medical use in Grand Cayman since 2017. Her record remains clear and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”

That she did. The model posted a series of post-holiday pictures yesterday after the story of her arrest was revealed, posing for pics in the beaming sun, lounging with friends on the beach and enjoying oysters and pizza.

And there was no grovelling apology or notes app statement about the arrest. Her ultra-chill caption simply stated: “All’s well that ends well.”

The model seemed totally unbothered by the details of her arrest being splashed all over by the press and she wasn’t shaken up while on holiday, either, if the Insta pics and her appearance at a local karaoke bar later in the week are anything to go by.

While not jet-setting, the California-born model splits her time between her New York flat and her family’s extensive ranch in Pennsylvania. She co-parents her two-year-old daughter, Khai, with ex-boyfriend Zayn Malik.

Malik recently discussed his co-parenting set-up with Hadid on hit podcast Call Her Daddy, where he revealed the pair have 50/50 custody and that he and Hadid have a “really good” bond which helps them co-parent, but he’s always looking for more time with his child. "I'm super full on, hands on with my child every chance I can be," he told the podcast. "If I could get 60 percent, I would have it."
