Ghana vs Uruguay lineups: Starting XIs, confirmed team news, injury latest for World Cup 2022 game today

Luis Suarez STARTS for Uruguay agaisnt Ghana today.

A win would send the Black Stars through into the knockout stages and enact at least some revenge for the controversial World Cup quarter-final between the two nations back in 2010.

Suarez, ever the pantomime villain, made quite the impact in that game and while Ghana have completely changed since, it’s not difficult to imagine this young team looking to right some wrongs.

Andre Ayew leads the line alongside Inaki Williams for Ghana, while Mohammed Kudus is emerging as one of the players of the tournament.

Left-back Gideon Mensah is fit after replacing Baba Raham for the 3-2 win over South Korea earlier this week but does not start.

Suarez, meanwhile, is recalled against a country one of the reporters from which referred to him as the “devil” in a press conference on Thursday.

While ineffective against Korea, neither one of Edinson Cavani or Darwin Nunez impressed against Portugal and the Uruguayans need their talisman to lift the mood after some disappointing performances so far.

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo remains sidelined in another key blow for La Celeste and manager Diego Alonso.

Ghana predicted XI: Ghana XI: Ati-Zigi; Seidu, Amartey, Salisu, Rahman; Partey, Abdul Samed; Kudus, Jordan Ayew, André Ayew; Iñaki Williams.

Uruguay starting XI: Rochet; Varela, Gimienez, Coates, Oliveria; Pellestri, Valverde, Bentacnur, De Arrasceta, Nunez; Suarez
