Limerick are the 2023 Munster Senior Hurling champions after defeating Clare by 1-15 to 1-19.

The Treaty Men's win in front of 43,756 at the TUS Gaelic Grounds sees them emulate Cork (1975-79 and 1982-86) by stringing five successive titles together.

Clare had led by three points at the break but Aaron Gillane’s second half goal swung the match in Limerick’s favour. Though the All-Ireland champions went five clear after that, they were reeled in coming down the stretch but the challengers ultimately fell just short.

Limerick's victory wasn't without controversy though with referee Liam Gordon needing to be escorted off the pitch at the end. This was due to him not awarding what looked a clear free for Clare after after Peter Casey appeared to shoulder Tony Kelly into the chest.
