Gabe Vincent labeled ‘logical’ Chicago Bulls free agency target

The Chicago Bulls have a very intriguing offseason ahead of them. There are a few different paths they could take, including a potential rebuild. However, President of Basketball Operations Atruras Karnisovas has made his thoughts clear on that idea, and he wants to keep the current core intact.

If that’s the plan, Chicago should look to sign quality depth pieces in free agency and will have their MLE to do so. Keith Smith of Spotrac recently wrote an offseason preview for the Bulls, noting their biggest positions of need as wings, a playmaker, and a combo big. In turn, he suggested they go after Miami Heat point guard Gabe Vincent.

Miami is in a tricky spot, as both Max Strus and Vincent are both in need of new contracts this offseason. In all likelihood, the Heat won’t be able to afford both of them. If that’s the case, Vincent could be a prime target for Chicago.

“If Miami keeps Strus, Gabe Vincent would be a logical MLE candidate for Chicago,” Smith wrote.

Vincent is in the midst of an impressive postseason run with the Heat. He’s helped lead them to the Eastern Conference finals, where they are currently one win away from a birth in the NBA Finals as the eighth seed.

He’s been elevated into a starting role this season, taking Kyle Lowry’s spot in the first five. His playoff run has likely earned him a nice payday this summer, and considering Chicago’s need for point guard play, they should be one of the teams looking to pay him.
