Funeral arrangements announced for much-loved musician found dead on roadside

The funeral arrangements for much-loved Dublin man John Courtney have been announced after he was found dead.

Gardai stood down their missing person search for the 64-year-old who had disappeared from Donnybrook in April after remains found on the Stillorgan Road were confirmed to be John. The search was stood down following the results of the DNA analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.

John was a passionate musician and storyteller and his death has shocked the entire community. An RIP.ie post says John will be missed by his dad Michael, children Leah and Genyfer, his brothers Declan and Thomas, extended family and friends.

John's funeral will take place this Friday 15 July in Church of the Sacred Heart Donnybrook. The hearse will arrive 10.50 am for Funeral Mass at 11.00 am followed by burial at Deans Grange Cemetery.

People have paid tribute to the well-known Dublin dad.

One person said: "Sympathies on the loss of a talented beautiful man. May his gentle soul rest in peace, hope his family find peace with his passing."

Another wrote: "John is going to be so sadly missed by everyone who knew him. He was a great storyteller and a Amazing musician."

A third said: "He was a man of high intelligence, great humanity and a gifted musician. I was proud to call him a friend and will miss him a lot."
