Frustrated Beyonce fans hit out at O2 Priority after site crashes

Beyonce fans vented their frustration online today after the O2 Priority site crashed shortly before tickets for the star’s long-awaited world tour went on sale. The priority tickets are available to O2 and Virgin Media customers.

Fans joining the virtual queue of tens of thousands of people need an O2 Priority code to buy tickets. But even before the tickets went on sale, the app and website crashed.

It meant that people joining the queue could not generate their own code and as a result, were kicked out of the site and forced to queue up again. It is safe to say that the BeyHive was not happy.

One fan on Twitter put it bluntly: “Of course, Beyonce has crashed O2 Priority”. Another complained: “I skipped my seminar to buy Beyonce tickets just for O2 Priority to crash!”

Many desperate fans pleaded directly to O2 for help: “My girlfriend has been hitting the try again button and refreshing on O2 Priority constantly for the past 30 minutes and hasn’t been able to join the queue for Beyonce tickets - please help!”

Others just yelled at Twitter: “What is the point of O2 Priority if it DOESN’T EVEN WORK,” one complained.

For some, they reached the front of the queue only to be let down by a spinning wheel. A fan revealed: “I got through the queue and managed to get a code but couldn’t get in to choose tickets, just a spinning wheel. Now it’s kicked me out and there are 220,000 people ahead of me!”

“Nice to see that O2 learnt from their mistakes from the Peter Kay pre-sale for Beyonce pre-sales, oh wait,” another recalled.

However, there were some fans that had a more important gripe with O2 and Beyonce. “Why has Beyonce crashed O2 Priority when I’m just trying to get my Greggs?”

While another said: “Beyonce people have just shut down O2 Prioritt and I’m just trying to get my free hot chocolate from Greggs”.

In a request to fans, one Greggs aficionado said: “You lot fully crashed the O2 Priority app, I can’t even get my free Greggs. Get off the app! Beyonce can wait but I need my mocha!”

O2 took to Twitter to explain that they were experiencing technical difficulties but advised fans to keep trying.

A Virgin Media O2 spokesperson further added: “We apologise to any customers who are experiencing difficulties trying to get Beyonce tickets through our Priority platform today. We’re seeing huge demand and we’re doing everything we can to help ensure all our customers can get through."
