In a recent incident in Clearwater, Florida, a man was arrested for crossing police crime scene tape at the site of a fatal plane crash. The 66-year-old man, Joseph Salvatore Schifano, claimed to be part of the medical staff but could not provide any proof of employment or duty.

According to authorities, the incident took place on Thursday evening when Schifano attempted to cross the yellow police tape at the crash site. Clearwater police intervened when they noticed Schifano ducking under the crime scene tape and entering the restricted area.

When questioned, Schifano admitted that he was merely being curious, stating that he was 'just nosey.' Despite being warned to stay out of the crime scene, he disregarded the instructions and tried to hide himself from officials to re-enter the site.

The police affidavit reveals that Schifano went as far as an 'entire house length into the crime scene,' all the while recording a video of the scene on his phone. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that he was attempting to capture footage for a media company in hopes of making some money.

As a result of his actions, Schifano was arrested and subsequently charged with resisting an officer without violence. He was later released on $500 bail.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting crime scene boundaries and adhering to law enforcement's instructions. Crime scene tape is in place for a reason, to preserve the integrity of the investigation and maintain the safety of officers and potential witnesses.

Attempting to enter a crime scene without proper authorization not only disrupts the investigation but also poses a risk to the individual involved. It is crucial to cooperate with law enforcement and understand that such scenes require professional handling.

Clearwater police should be commended for their swift response in apprehending Schifano and maintaining order at the crash site. Their diligence ensures that justice can be served and the investigation can proceed unhindered.

We must all remember to respect the boundaries established by law enforcement agencies and allow them to carry out their duties effectively, even in situations as tragic and intriguing as a plane crash. Let this incident serve as a lesson to all that interfering with a crime scene is not only illegal but can also have severe consequences.
