First Scots Christmas babies born across country are best presents for parents

The first Scots Christmas babies have been born in hospitals up and down the country.

A new mum in Aberdeen is celebrating today after receiving the best gift she could have ever hoped for. Margaret Wilson, 34, welcomed a very special delivery during the small hours of Christmas morning. At 4.32am, little Alex was born in Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, weighing 2.32kg (5lb 13oz).

Meanwhile, in the capital, new parents Nadejda Bulgaru, 25, and Stefan Dobroviceanu, 31, from Edinburgh, were pictured with their baby Selena. Their daughter was born at 2.44am on Christmas Day morning at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary weighing 3.35kg (7lbs 4oz).

NHS Fife also shared an adorable image of another baby born on Christmas Day. The health board took to social media to share a picture of little Alexandru Bereczki born at 1.58am, weighing in at 4.19kg (9lb 30z).

Elizabeth and Alex, both from Kirkcaldy, shared the exciting moment with staff as they posed with Alexandru after becoming proud parents on a day they'll never forget.

And a family in Glasgow welcomed what could well be Scotland’s first Christmas Day tot this year, after bringing their little one into the world at 12.39am. Nicola Lawson gave birth to little Robyn, weighing a healthy, 3.480kg (7lb 67oz).

Robyn was Nicola and partner Calum's second child and the delighted couple were pictured smiling with the beautiful tot later that day.

On the same ward Hanna Esslenent gave birth to another little baby just hours later. Sonny arrived weighing in at 4.044kg (8lb 91oz) at 4.28am to the delight of his mother and proud dad Scott, who were welcoming their second child into the world.
