First Lady Jill Biden Urges End To Gaza Conflict

Joe Biden and Jill Biden

During a recent meeting with Muslim community leaders, President Joe Biden shared a conversation he had with First Lady Jill Biden regarding the conflict in Gaza. Attendees at the meeting reported that the President recounted the First Lady expressing concern over his handling of the Israel-Hamas war.

Dr. Nahreen Ahmed, who was present at the meeting, recalled the First Lady telling the President, 'It’s got to stop.' Another participant mentioned that the First Lady had urged, 'Stop it. Stop it now.'

While there was some ambiguity about whether the First Lady's comments were directed at ending the war or reducing civilian casualties in Gaza, a White House official clarified that both President Biden and Dr. Biden share outrage over civilian deaths.

The President's remarks about the First Lady's message came on the same day he expressed outrage over an Israeli strike that killed seven aid workers from World Central Kitchen in Gaza. The aid organization, founded by chef Jose Andres, is known for its humanitarian work.

Elizabeth Alexander, communications director for the First Lady, stated that Dr. Biden is 'heartbroken' over the loss of civilian lives and believes Israel should do more to protect civilians.

While the First Lady has made limited public statements about the Israel-Hamas conflict, she has expressed gratitude for President Biden's leadership during these challenging times. She has also faced interruptions from pro-Palestinian protestors during some of her public appearances.

Overall, the President and the First Lady are aligned in their concern for civilian safety and their desire for Israel to take greater care in protecting innocent lives during the conflict.
