Firing outside Salman Khan's home: One more member of Lawrence Bishnoi gang arrested

The Mumbai Police arrested a sixth person on Monday evening from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in connection with the firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence. He has been remanded for 14 days by a special MCOCA court.

Harpal Singh, 34, the sixth accused, was arrested from Haryana’s Fatehabad. The court proceeding happened in-camera and Singh was remanded to police custody till May 22.

His name surfaced during the interrogation of the earlier apprehended accused Mohammed Rafiq Chaudhary, who was arrested from Rajasthan on May 7.

Chaudhary disclosed that Singh had asked him to assist in conducting a recce of the actor’s residential building and locality. For his involvement in the crime, he was offered close to ₹3 lakh, said a police officer.

Before Singh and Chaudhary, two people – Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal – were arrested within 48 hours of firing five rounds outside the actor’s residence on April 14. They are accused of being the shooters and were brought from Bihar to Mumbai. One of the bullets had hit the actor’s residence. Later, on April 26, Anuj Thapan and Sonu Subhash Chander were arrested from Punjab on the charges of supplying weapons to the shooters.

Thapan had allegedly committed suicide in the police lock-up on May 1.
