Family of murdered dad-of-five say he 'didn't deserve to die'

The family of a man who was brutally murdered at an industrial estate say they have been left heartbroken after the "senseless" killing. Carl Woodall was stripped naked and left for dead on the floor - his three killers have now been jailed for a total of 87 years after leaving him with more than 141 injuries across his face, head and torso in the attack on June 28 last year.

James McGhee, of Stanstead Avenue in Nottingham, Mark Campbell, of Glaisdale Drive East, Nottingham, and Simmion Goldbourne, of no fixed abode, all denied the murder of Mr Woodall. Campbell, 39, and Goldbourne, 28, were convicted by jurors of murder while McGhee, 28, was acquitted and found guilty of manslaughter.

Prosecutors told how Campbell and Goldbourne forced their way into a caravan on the site in Doulton Road, Rowley Regis, where Mr Woodall lived. Prosecutors told how Campbell and Goldbourne forced their way into a caravan on the site where Mr Woodall lived, Birmingham Live reports.

In a statement, Mr Woodall's family have described him as a family man who "did not deserve to die" - they say he will always be missed by those that loved him. Mr Woodall's family said: "Carl was a quiet, hard-working man who loved his family and children. He kept himself to himself and did not deserve to die in such horrific circumstances.

"Carl’s family and friends are heartbroken about what has happened to such a kind, caring person. His life has been needlessly taken away from everyone who loves him. We will never know why Carl was targeted in such a senseless way. He will always be in our hearts and will forever be missed."

On Friday, May 27, murderers Campbell and Goldbourne were jailed for life at Wolverhampton Crown Court for their brutal attack. Both must serve a minimum of 36 years behind bars for killing 'wheeler-dealer' Mr Woodall. Get-away driver James McGhee, who chauffeured the killers from Nottingham to the murder scene, was also jailed for 15 years.
