Everton team news for Wolves as Dominic Calvert-Lewin named in new formation

Dominic Calvert-Lewin starts for an Everton side that has been reshuffled to accommodate its struggles at full back.

The striker, crucial to the Blues’ hopes of Premier League survival, was taken off at half-time against Manchester City as a precaution over a potential groin issue. He was then given a few “down days” from training.

Dyche appeared hopeful the 26-year-old would be fit when he gave his pre-Wolverhampton Wanderers press conference on Thursday and Calvert-Lewin hinted at his availability in an Instagram post on Friday night. He has now been named in the starting line-up for the key game.

The other major talking point heading into the trip to Molineux was who would fill in on the left side of defence in the absence of the injured Vitalii Mykolenko. With Ben Godfrey and Seamus Coleman injured and Conor Coady ineligible to face his parent club, Dyche’s options were limited. From his starting line-up that is unclear - with Dwight McNeil potentially set up to start in defence. Mason Holgate, who started at left back last weekend, is on the bench with Amadou Onana returning to the starting line-up. Onana features alongside fellow centre midfielders James Garner, Idrissa Gueye and Abdoulaye Doucoure. The players leave a host of options - all of which feature an experimental component - to the starting shape. With Holgate and Michael Keane on the bench, however, it looks likely that Dyche is sticking with a back four.

Dyche once again names two goalkeepers on a bench that features Neal Maupay, Ellis Simms and Demarai Gray as well academy starlets Sean McAllister and Reece Welch.

Pickford; McNeil, Tarkowski, Mina, Patterson; Onana, Garner, Gueye, Doucoure, Iwobi; Calvert-Lewin
