EuroMillions results: UK winner receives £55m jackpot

One Briton will find themselves £55 million richer on Wednesday after winning the National Lottery EuroMillions jackpot.

The lucky winner had been unidentified at the time of writin. Lottery bosses on Tuesday night urged people to check their tickets to see if they had struck it rich.

The winning numbers were 11, 17, 28, 32, and 35. The Lucky Stars were 05 and 06.

Sky News reported that the winner will be richer than England and Tottenham football star Harry Kane, who is worth £51m according to the Sunday Times Rich List.

On June 2, another British ticketholder won £111.7m in the EuroMillions draw.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at the National Lottery, said on Tuesday: “What a night for UK EuroMillions players, as a single ticket-holder has scooped tonight’s life-changing £55 million EuroMillions jackpot.

"This is the second EuroMillions jackpot win in the UK so far this month, after another lucky ticket-holder won an incredible £111.7 million in the draw on Friday, June 2.

“Players are urged to check their tickets and to give us a call if they think they are tonight’s lucky winner.”

The lottery generates £30 million every week for good causes around the UK.

Mr Carter added: “This money supports projects across the nation, with a total of more than 670,000 grants – to projects both big and small – having been made across the UK to date.”

Twitter users shared jokes about the windfall. Den of Scholes tweeted: “Won £3.30 on the euromillions. I won’t let it change me. If you are or know the person who scooped up the £55,000,000 jackpot I have a signed begging letter/email ready to go.”

Another, Lucy Cat Lady, wrote: “Congratulations to the British winner of £50 million on euro millions last night. I’m not at all envious.

“I advise you however to spend or invest it quickly as the way things are going you’ll only be able to buy half as much with it within a couple of months.”
