Emma Stone, the Oscar-winning actress, recently shared insights into her choice of professional name. When she first joined the acting industry and needed an official SAG-AFTRA name, she opted for Emma as her preferred choice, as her original choice of Emily was already taken by another actress in the union. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Stone mentioned that she had a fondness for the name Emma from her childhood.

However, in a candid moment, Stone revealed that she had a period where she felt a desire to reclaim her birth name, Emily. She expressed this sentiment a couple of years ago, stating that she felt compelled to go back to being called Emily. Her co-star Nathan Fielder, from 'The Curse,' also chimed in during a joint interview, highlighting the discrepancy between Stone's professional name and her birth name.

Fielder humorously pointed out the distinction, mentioning that while Stone goes by Emma professionally, he would refer to her as Emily moving forward. Stone, on the other hand, expressed a nonchalant attitude towards the name switch, indicating that she was comfortable with either name and wouldn't correct fans who called her Emily.

Stone also shared a lighthearted anecdote about her nickname for Fielder, referring to him as 'Big Nate,' which he confirmed as his preferred moniker among close acquaintances. The actress further disclosed her inspiration for choosing the name Emma, citing her admiration for Emma Bunton, popularly known as Baby Spice from the Spice Girls.

Stone, who recently clinched her second Academy Award for her role in 'Poor Things,' previously won an Oscar for her performance in 'La La Land.' Despite the occasional confusion over her professional and birth names, Stone's talent and versatility continue to captivate audiences worldwide.
