Emma Stone, who recently won a BAFTA for her outstanding performance in 'Poor Things' and is currently an Oscar nominee, is in discussions to collaborate once again with acclaimed director Yorgos Lanthimos on the remake of the South Korean fantasy comedy 'Save the Green Planet.' This exciting project, which is set to commence filming in the summer in the U.K. and New York, has been in development for a number of years.

The original South Korean film was directed by Jang Joon-hwan, who was initially attached to helm the English-language remake. The screenplay for the remake is penned by Will Tracy, known for his work on popular shows like HBO's 'Succession' and Searchlight's 'The Menu.' 'Save the Green Planet' is a quirky black comedy that follows the story of a disillusioned young man who captures and tortures a businessman whom he suspects to be part of an alien invasion. The narrative unfolds into a battle of wits involving the captor, his loyal girlfriend, the businessman, and a private detective. Stone is likely to take on a supporting role in the film.

This project marks the sixth collaboration between Lanthimos and Stone, who first worked together on the critically acclaimed film 'The Favourite.' Their upcoming project, 'Kinds of Kindness,' an anthology film featuring Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, and Margaret Qualley, is expected to be released later this year and may premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

'Poor Things,' the film for which Stone received her BAFTA award, has garnered an impressive 11 Oscar nominations, including nods for best picture, director, actress, and supporting actor, among others. The remake of 'Save the Green Planet' also reunites Lanthimos with producers Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe at Element Pictures for the sixth time. The movie will be co-produced by Ari Aster's Square Peg and CJ ENM (formerly CJ Entertainment).

'Save the Green Planet' achieved cult status and received acclaim at various fantasy festivals, including those in Bucheon, Buenos Aires, and Brussels, as well as markets like Rotterdam, Tokyo Filmex, and Moscow. Jang's work on the film earned him the Golden Bell Award for best new director in Korea.
