Edinburgh Wolves Women's American football team recruiting this weekend

A high-flying American football team based in Edinburgh is urging anyone with an interest in trying a new sport to come down this weekend and get involved in their rookie day.

Edinburgh Wolves are an American football team based in the capital, and have been extremely successful throughout their tenure in both the men and women's leagues.

In 2022, the women's team went undefeated in both the seven-a-side league and play-offs, securing the Division One title with a 27-21 win over the Peterborough Royals - and a healthy 10-0 record.

And now, the women's team is making the move to nine-a-side, facing new competition south of the border. Their play-off rivals Peterborough Royals join the chase, with Leeds Chargers, Birmingham Lions and London Warriors adding to the National League.

The Wolves Women's team is now recruiting for the season ahead, and is encouraging people to come down and try out for the first time. On their social media, the team wrote: "Are you in a rut with your current sport?

"Just fancy a change?

"Looking for a new challenge? Many other sports have transferable skills; running, catching, tackling, and kicking to name a few.

The rookie day for the women's team is on Sunday, February 5 from 9am until 11:30am at Peffermill Playing Fields in Edinburgh.

The men will also be holding a rookie day from 10am until 1pm at the same place.
