Edinburgh ScotRail passengers facing lengthy delays due to 'complete signalling loss'

Edinburgh ScotRail passengers across the central belt are facing rush hour delays on Tuesday following a signalling issue.

No services are currently running through Cupar in Fife due to a "complete loss of signalling" with trains to Edinburgh suspended and ticket acceptance on bus services have been put in place.

Passengers commuting from Fife to the capital are being urged to use their train ticket on the local Stagecoach bus within Fife to Inverkeithing then change to the train as their ticket won't be accepted between Fife and Edinburgh on the bus.

Taking to Twitter to warn passengers of potential delays on Tuesday morning, March 21, ScotRail said: "NEW: No trains can run through Cupar due to a complete loss of signalling in the area. Local Dundee - Edinburgh services are suspended and we're diverting our Aberdeen - Edinburgh trains via Perth where we can. Our tickets are being accepted on Stagecoach buses in Fife.

"If you're travelling to Edinburgh this morning, you can use your train ticket on local Stagecoach buses within Fife to Inverkeithing and then change their for the train. Your ticket won't be accepted between Fife and Edinburgh on the bus."

The rail provider are working hard to resolve the issue within the next few hours.
