Edinburgh's Cocktail Geeks 'Stranger Things pop-up' sees fan travel over 500 miles

A portal to the Upside Down has been opened in Scotland’s capital by the infamous Cocktail Geeks.

Of course, those looking to quench their thirst will have to do so with their wits about them, for there are Demogorgons on the loose at this Stranger Things pop-up on East Market Street.

The Edinburgh Arches venue has been transformed into the town of Hawkins so that Edinburgh residents and visitors can enjoy a 1980’s themed drink.

A viral TikTok - that was created by a young man who travelled over 500 miles to attend the bar - shows the interior of the venue designed to mimic the iconic set of the hit Netflix show.

A model of the alphabetic lights used by Will to communicate from the upside down can be seen on the wall as fancy looking drinks inspired by the programme can be spotted on the table.

Stranger Things is in no way affiliated with the bar but those at The Cocktail Geeks wanted to celebrate the creative geniuses that gave us one of the greatest series for a generation.

The event launched on Wednesday (June 8) and those attending the spectacular short-term boozer can look forward to a variety of treats.

Some of the drinks on offer include cocktails such as ‘Sunset over Dawkins’ which is made up of Quiquiriqui Mezcal, Maraschino Cherry, Pomegranate and Orange Bitters.

Traditional cocktails will also be served and include the ever delicious Pina Colada as well as other favourites like a Tequila Sunrise, White Russian and Long Island Ice Tea.

Horror themed ‘I-Scream’ floats will also be available for anyone looking to cool off from the hotness of Steve Harrington with ‘The Shining’ looking especially delicious with Sweetdram Escubac, Rhubarb Soda and Vanilla Ice Cream.

Hard Shakes that have been inspired by songs of the 80’s include the ‘God Save the Queen’, ‘Pump Up The Jam’ and ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)’.

There are also multiple vegan and non-alcoholic beverages on offer.

Those looking to check out the venue can ‘Hopper’ on down and have a drink or ‘Eleven’ at this fantastic yet horrifying boozer!

The Cocktail Geeks posted on Facebook : ‘“How do you know it’s not just a lizard?...’

‘“Because his face opened up and he ate my cat!"’

“Strange things are lurking in The Upside Down, but for a taste of our Boozy Shakes and Ice Cream Floats it's worth the risk!

“Just don't bring your cat.”
