Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2023: Check out who’s performing and how to get tickets

Big-name performers are on the bill for Edinburgh Festival Fringe with the 2023 brochure having been launched on Thursday.

The comedy line-up features everyone from newcomers to household names, from reality TV stars to game show contestants.

The event takes place every August and is considered “one of the greatest celebrations of arts and culture on the planet”, or so say the organisers!

It is also highly inclusive and anyone can perform.

The 2023 edition is taking place from August 4 to 28.

Who is on the line-up?

Some of the famous comics who have signed up are Bridget Christie, Adam Kay, Frank Skinner, Sara Pascoe, and Rhod Gilbert.

How can I get tickets?

There are currently 2,993 results for ‘what’s on’ at the various venues - so it is fair to say there is a reasonable choice of what to see. Many are on for the entire month.

Tickets start at next to nothing and can all be bought online from the festival’s official page.

Can I perform at the Edinburgh Festival?

Anyone can take part in the Edinburgh Fringe as a performer on stage or even in the street - and the website has a complete guide.

All shows must be registered. There is still time to do this, although now the programme has been printed it will be web only. It is also possible to do an online event.

There is also a section on the website to help venues looking to host acts.

How can I get from London to Edinburgh?

Around 70 trains per day leave London for Edinburgh (Waverley) and the journey takes just under five hours with prices starting from £19.90.

Also, flights to Edinburgh leave Stansted, Heathrow, Gatwick, and Luton Airports. It is possible to make the trip by air with prices starting from £35 return.

You can also choose to drive, and the journey takes around seven hours if you do not stop.
