Edie Falco to play Pete Davidson’s mom in biographical Peacock series ‘Bupkis’

Edie Falco is going from New Jersey mob family matriarch to the Queen of Staten Island.

The “Sopranos” star has been cast to play Pete Davidson’s mother in his upcoming biographical series “Bupkis,” the pair announced Monday during NBC’s upfronts presentation to investors, during which networks reveal their upcoming programming.

“Bupkis,” which will air on Peacock, is described as “a heightened, fictionalized version of Pete Davidson’s real life, combining grounded storytelling with absurd elements from the unfiltered and completely original worldview for which Pete is well known.”

“Saturday Night Live” player Davidson, who’s 28, previously portrayed a fictionalized version of himself in 2020′s “The King of Staten Island,” a semiautobiographical film in which Marisa Tomei played his mother.

The comedian said Monday that he’s glad to have another real actress take on the role of his mother for the upcoming show, joking that his real-life mom, who has played herself in some of her son’s sketches, is getting a big head about all her roles in his projects.

Falco, meanwhile, said she was excited to once again play an exhausted mother of two surrounded by a world of corruption, this time in Staten Island instead of New Jersey.

Davidson was born and raised on Staten Island, the son of a New York City firefighter who was killed on 9/11.

Falco, a 58-year-old Brooklyn native, is best known for playing Carmela Soprano on “The Sopranos” and the title nurse in “Nurse Jackie.” Last year, she played Hilary Clinton in “Impeachment: American Crime Story.”

“Saturday Night Live” creator Lorne Michaels is an executive producer on “Bupkis.”
