EastEnders fans solve why Cindy walked out on the Knights after George confession

EastEnders viewers think they've solved the mystery over Rose Knight's vanishing act, after the discovery that she walked out on her family in 2014.

Rose was recently confirmed to be Cindy Beale in a major twist, as the past character came back from the dead.

Cindy was thought to have died offscreen during childbirth in the 90s, but recent scenes confirmed she faked her death and went into witness protection.

Some time after this, she met George and the pair had two daughters, Gina and Anna - while her other children Stephen, Peter, Lucy and Cindy Jr all thought their mother was dead, as did her ex Ian Beale.

In a twist of fate, George recently moved to Walford with his daughters and new partner Elaine Peacock, who he now runs The Queen Vic with.

After his arrival it was confirmed his wife Rose was missing, after suddenly walking out on her family nine years earlier.

More details of this were finally shared by George on Wednesday night, before he dropped a confession about the night Rose AKA Cindy walked out.

George had no idea about Rose's real identity, but recently he confessed to daughter Anna that he'd found out Rose wasn't who she had claimed to be.

On Wednesday, George told his daughters that Rose had got drunk on the day she left, and he thought she was upstairs sleeping off the alcohol.

But as he went to check on her he found her packing her bags, and clearing the safe - leading to him warning her not to come back if she left.

George confessed he had no idea why Rose left, and her departure and odd behaviour came on suddenly and out of nowhere.

But fans think they've cracked the case, and that Cindy had learned some shocking news back in 2014 when she fled.

It was this same year that Cindy's daughter Lucy Beale was murdered in Walford, and now fans think it can't be a coincidence that this was the same year 'Rose' left her family behind.

Fans believe Cindy/Rose found out about her daughter's death and was left struggling to cope, resulting in her fleeing.

Taking to Twitter, one fan said: "The thing that was wrong, George is that she’s just found out Lucy had been killed."

A second fan agreed: "Yeah Gina is gonna wanna strangle Bobby when she finds out he is basically the reason Cindy left them."

Another fan wrote: "Gina is going rip Bobby’s throat out when she finds out he’s the reason her mom left."

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
