EastEnders fans fume as exit 'confirmed' for character during heartbreaking episode

EastEnders appeared to reveal a character is leaving the BBC soap, in scenes that aired on Tuesday night - and viewers were not happy.

A character was told he needed to depart his home within 24 hours, or he and his beloved brother would face danger. Fans were disappointed though, given the "importance" of the episode in which the scene aired in.

Finlay Baker was threatened to leave Walford for good after his run-in with the Panesar family escalated.

While he initially stood his ground, two characters warned him with a death threat against his brother Felix if he didn't flee.

While it was not confirmed that the character was leaving pre-episode, it could well be that the character is bowing out of the soap for good following the latest scenes.

EastEnders has not confirmed the departure, and viewers will have to tune in on Wednesday to find out if he leaves or stays - while there are also no spoilers regarding the twist for the next episodes.

That said, plenty of other characters have recently departed Walford without prior warning or mention of an exit in spoilers.

We also can't see how Finlay will get out of his situation with the Panesars now that Suki and Ravi are involved, with the scenes certainly feeling like the character was about to exit.

But fans fumed over the fact the storyline aired during the funeral episode for Lola Pearce, as Walford gathered to say goodbye to the tragic character, who sadly passed away from a brain tumour.

Fans claimed the exit hints and the scenes "ruined" the heartbreaking episode, while others were annoyed over the possible departure.

The surprising twist comes after Finlay confronted Suki's son Vinny, after he learned the brakes had been cut on his car - while Eve Unwin was the intended victim.

Suki stopped Vinny's murder attempt by slashing a tyre, but Finlay discovered the issue with the brakes - and a necklace that belonged to Vinny.

Vinny tried to act the hard man and threatened Finlay, but the character hinted he planned to go to the police - resulting in Ravi and Suki stepping in.

Viewers watching on Tuesday night saw a fearful Finlay be told he must leave Walford for good, or there would be consequences.

But fans were furious over the news, not believing the character had been given a chance on the show or the right storyline - while other fans were more annoyed that it aired during Lola's farewell episode..

Taking to Twitter, one fan said: "This spoilt what was really important in tonight episode."

Another fan agreed: "Shame such a beautiful episode was spoilt by including this pathetic storyline!" as a third wrote: "You literally ruined tonight's episode with this b******s."

Others were not happy about a possible exit for Finlay. One viewer said: "Nah Suki is a b***h!!! Ravi disgusts me, forcing Finlay out of the square by threading to kill his brother."

A second fan commented: "It seems as if Finlay may be off soon. It could be a break, but somehow, I'm guessing they're writing him out, after doing almost nothing with his character."

Another added: "Who the hell does Suki think she is, Finlay's exit at hands of the mafia down an alleyway," as a fourth said: "We all knew this was an exit for him," with a sad face emoji.

Meanwhile, one viewer hoped: "I'm hoping that Finlay isn't leaving and that this will be the beginning of a storyline for him and Felix."

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
