EastEnders airs gruesome scenes as Phil finds murdered Tina Carter's corpse

EastEnders aired gruesome scenes on the BBC soap on Friday night, as Tina Carter's decomposed corpse was found over a year after her murder.

Phil Mitchell made the grim discovery while trashing the Argee Bhajee restaurant to scare off stepson Tommy Moon's bullies.

Of course he has no idea the body he has just found is that of missing Tina, the sister of his ex and pal Shirley Carter.

No one actually knows Tina is dead, presuming she had gone on the run - as backed up by her secret killer Gray Atkins.

Gray actually murdered Tina though in December 2020, months after murdering his wife Chantelle - something Tina realised to be the case.

While for more than a year it wasn't disclosed where Tina's body was after her death, recent scenes revealed her corpse was buried under the Argee Bhajee.

Scenes next week will show the Carters learning the distressing news that Tina is dead, and her body has been located.

It's this body that Phil uncovered by accident on Friday night, as he smashed the floorboards with a metal bar repeatedly causing them to break.

As he realised he'd made a hole in the floor, he was looking into it before he realised he could see a skeletal hand.

It seemed the arm was wrapped in Tina's pink, fluffy coat that she was wearing when she died too.

It didn't take Phil long to realise what he had seen, and that there was a body under the floor.

There was an explosion at the venue recently, which may have made the floor so easy to break - but it's not clear how Gray managed to bury Tina's body there so long ago, and how it's remained undetected for so long.

Phil called the police to tell them what he'd found, which only landed him in more trouble with DCI Samantha Keeble who remained keen to send him down for years if he didn't agree to her bargain of him becoming a grass.

She took the moment to arrest him when she arrived at the scene, while he had nothing to do with the body found.

As the residents reeled from the body discovery, they were completely unaware of the tragic news about to unfold that it's Tina.

As Gray remained in a coma, with his eyes twitching just after the discovery, it seems his games are finally up.
