Eamonn Holmes shares sweet photos of granddaughter as he explains his health battle is keeping them apart

GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes has taken to social media to share an adorable collage of his one-almost-two-year-old granddaughter Emilia and revealed that his health struggles, in particular his "immobility" as well as the "Irish sea", is what keeps them apart.

In the photo he shared, Emilia is seen pointing at Eamonn presenting on television with her mouth wide open in shock at seeing him on the screen. Captioning the post, Eamonn wrote: "My immobility and The Irish Sea divides us but granddaughter Emilia still recognises her Pappa through the power of TV! Either that or she's saying 'Switch it over to CBeebies!'"

The 63-year-old journalist added in a comment underneath the post: "She will be two in a few weeks time". The former This Morning presenter's comments were soon flooded by comments gushing about how adorable Emilia is and how wonderful it is to be a 'doting' grandparent.

One commented: "No she is saying that's my Papa, she is absolutely beautiful @eamonnholmes". Another added: "Nothing matches being a grandparent! It’s the best feeling!! Enjoy her Eamonn, Emelia is gorgeous." And a third said: "I’m sure it’s her pappa she wants to see. How adorable."

Eamonn, who is married to Loose Women's Ruth Langsford, has long been open about his health struggles and last year underwent an operation on his back to help with chronic pain he'd suffered with for years - caused by a dislocated pelvis and trapped sciatic nerve, reports The Mirror - and three slipped discs, which has caused weakness in his legs. Just weeks after his operation, he fractured his shoulder, forcing him to take time off work on GB News to rest. His recovery is documented on his social media - much of which receives support and praise from his followers.

In March, he returned to work, much to the joy of his fans. Read more on that here. The Northern Irish broadcaster is ever the doting grandfather, and when his granddaughter Emilia - the daughter of his son, Declan - was born, he shared a post on Instagram to his followers to celebrate the birth of his first grandchild.

He wrote, alongside a black and white photo of Declan holding his newborn: "My first born son Declan with his first born and my first grandchild Emilia. Welcome to The World Emilia. Just call me Papa."
