Dominik Szoboszlai shares six-word message after first day of Liverpool training

New Liverpool signing Dominik Szoboszlai has labelled his first day as a Reds player as "great" after meeting Jurgen Klopp and fellow signing Alexis Mac Allister.

The Hungary captain, 22, followed Mac Allister through the doors of Anfield earlier this month as he became the Reds' second signing of the summer and took their overall outlay to £95 million.

Newly-appointed sporting director Jorg Schmadtke moved swiftly to trigger a deal for the RB Leipzig midfielder, activating his release clause in the final hours of its existence at the end of June. The following week Szoboszlai signed a long-term deal with the Reds and was presented with the iconic No.8 shirt - which had previously been worn by legendary captain Steven Gerrard.

On Tuesday, the midfielder enjoyed his first day as a Reds player as he was - along with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah - one of 14 players handed an extended summer break by Klopp because of their involvement in the post-season international friendlies.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday night, just hours after his first day at the AXA Centre, the 22-year-old posted: "Great first session with the lads!"

The Instagram post, which was posted to his 950,000 followers, was accompanied by a selection of photos from his first official day on Merseyside. One photo shows the Hungarian carrying out the dreaded lactate test alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold, Cody Gakpo, Alexis Mac Allister and Diogo Jota.

The Reds will continue their preparations for the new season at Kirkby until the end of the week when they will fly out to the Black Forest region of Germany for a handful of friendlies against Bundesliga opposition. After a brief return to Merseyside, Klopp's men will then head out to Singapore for fixtures against Bayern Munich and Leicester City before a final summer contest against Darmstadt at Preston North End's Deepdale.

Liverpool will kick their 2023/24 Premier League season off at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.
