De Goey, Moore cleared for AFL semi-final

Collingwood coach Craig McRae has allayed injury fears over Jordan De Goey and Darcy Moore, declaring the star duo fit to face Fremantle in Saturday night's do-or-die AFL semi-final.

But the Magpies are still mulling over how best to fill the void left by vice-captain Taylor Adams, who won't play again this season because of a groin injury.

There was a scare at training on Thursday morning when Moore hurt his knee and was assessed on the sidelines.

But the key defender returned to complete the session in a positive sign that he will line up against Fremantle tall forwards Rory Lobb and Griffin Logue at the MCG.

"In one of the contact drills he just got kneed on the knee. There's no issues at all," McRae said.

De Goey has been on light duties all week and sat out a lot of contact work after damaging his right shoulder in last Saturday's qualifying final defeat to Geelong.

Scans earlier this week revealed a grade-one sprain of the AC joint.

Both De Goey and Moore were named to take on the Dockers when the teams were released on Thursday night.

"Jordy will be right to go," McRae said.

"Funnily enough, he actually did more than we were asking. His shoulder's going to be fine.

"He may have discomfort for the rest of the year, I think, maybe.

"But according to what he needed to do today, he ran around well and we're confident he'll play."

Collingwood may have to rob Peter to pay Paul when it comes to replacing inspirational midfielder Adams.

Electric small forward Jamie Elliott and rugged defender Brayden Maynard are both likely to be called upon to play some more midfield minutes.

In the only change to the Magpies' side, 21-year-old midfielder Trent Bianco replaced Adams.

Fremantle go in unchanged.

"It's difficult. We don't have a plethora of Taylor Adams on our list, we don't," McRae said.

"He's a unique player, he's a contested player - we just don't have a replacement.

"That's reality, so you go 'well what moving parts do we add? Can we get someone to play a different role?'

"There's a whole array of moving parts that we need to discuss."

McRae welcomed forecast wet weather on Saturday, declaring his side's intention to turn the game into a contested battle and prevent Fremantle from controlling possession.

He also wants his side to make use of their home crowd, with an attendance of more than 90,000 fans expected.

The first-year Collingwood boss and former Richmond assistant likened the predicted one-sided crowd to that which roared the Tigers home to a famous 2017 preliminary final win over GWS.

"You've got to make your crowd come to life," McRae said.

"This game's going to be a lot different to the one we just played (against Geelong).

"We're prepping ourselves for a real struggle and they're a very good defensive team.

"You don't get to this time of the year by chance so we're going to have to bring the best version of ourselves."
