Cops launch murder probe after death of 36-year-old man

Police are treating the death of a 36-year-old man in Glasgow on Wednesday as murder, investigators have announced.

Kevin John Kennedy, also known as Kevin Jamieson, was found with serious injuries on Cornwall Street South in the Kinning Park area of the city at around 11.30pm on October 5. He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital but was tragically pronounced dead by medics.

Cops initially described the circumstances around his death as "unexplained" but have since escalated their investigation to a murder probe. However, they say there is no wider threat posed to the community in the south side of Glasgow.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter Sharp said: "We are working to establish the full circumstances of what happened and our thoughts are with the family of Mr Kennedy at this difficult time for them. If anyone saw anything or heard anything before or after the incident that might help with our investigation, I would urge them to come forward.

"We believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the wider community."

Tributes were paid to Kevin Kennedy on social media (Facebook)

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 3837 of Wednesday, 5 October, 2022. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Earlier we reported how family members and friends had come out in droves to pay tribute to Kevin on social media. One pal hailed him as a "legend".

His sister Amy Roberts wrote: "Not got any words at all...tonight at 12.10am my big brother Kevin Kennedy passed away! My heart is in total pieces and I cannot put into words how much this had tore our family apart.

"It still doesn’t even feel real. I hope wherever you are your at peace and looking down on us all.

"Kev you really were my best friend and enemy all in one and there will never ever be a day that you are forgotten I promise. I love you with all my heart, fly high."
