Congressman Mccaul Warns Of Terror Threats At US-Mexico Border

Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. President Trump visits the U.S.-Mexico border at Eagle Pass

Michael McCaul, the Texas Republican congressman and chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee and House Foreign Affairs Committee, expressed concerns about the ongoing immigration issues and border security policies in a recent interview.

McCaul emphasized the importance of addressing the issue of illegal immigration and the need to implement effective policies to control the situation. He highlighted the recent case of a killer in Lake and Riley who was in the country illegally, pointing out that such incidents are not isolated.

He raised alarm over the rising number of fentanyl overdoses, terror threats, and the surge in illegal border crossings, calling for immediate action to address these challenges.

Regarding President Biden's proposed budget of $4.7 billion to address the surges, McCaul criticized the approach of throwing more money at the problem without reinstating effective policies that were previously in place.

McCaul also criticized the Biden administration for halting policies such as Remain in Mexico, ending catch-and-release, and completing the border wall, which he believes were working effectively.

He expressed concerns about the potential nexus between terrorist groups like ISIS and smugglers at the border, warning of the possibility of terror plots being planned within the country.

McCaul stressed the need to reform asylum policies to prevent cartels from exploiting the system and to address the threat posed by nefarious elements entering the country.

He highlighted the apprehension of individuals on the terror watchlist at the border and underscored the importance of taking the FBI director's warnings seriously.

Overall, McCaul urged for immediate action to secure the border and prevent potential security threats from materializing within the United States.
