Colorado State Coach’s Wife Belittles Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders in Deleted Tweet

Colorado State coach Jay Norvell’s wife took a reckless shot at Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders in a now-deleted tweet about a postgame interaction following the Rocky Mountain Showdown on Sept. 16.

Norvell’s wife, Kim Norvell, posted a tweet Wednesday night that disparaged Shedeur Sanders for a gesture he allegedly made at the Colorado State coach after the Buffaloes’ 43—35 overtime win. She was replying on social media to a newly released video clip from Amazon Prime Video’s documentary series, Coach Prime, which showed Jay Norvell’s tense postgame exchange with Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders.

In regard to Shedeur’s alleged gesture, Kim Norvell wrote, “Shadeur [sic] acted like a B when Jay turned his back to his dad, and held up his watch.”

The tweet has since been deleted.

In the newly released clip, cameras caught Deion Sanders’s interaction with Jay Norvell after Colorado’s win. Norvell told Sanders, “Congratulations … I was never talking about your family,” in an attempt to clarify his viral quote from earlier in the week. Sanders responded, “Oh, you was talking about my mama, dog.”

Jay Norvell drew first blood when he criticized Deion Sanders’s appearance days before the game. Norvell said, “When I talk to grownups, I take my hat and my glasses off. That’s what my mother taught me.”

Shedeur Sanders came to his father’s defense and called Norvell a “fool” for giving Colorado bulletin-board material ahead of the intrastate matchup.

“You gotta be a fool to do that,” Shedeur said on ESPN’s First Take. “You got his son playing quarterback, his other son playing safety. Come on now, you’re asking for it. It’s just extra motivation, that’s what it is.”

Kim Norvell’s fiery tweet and the ongoing Coach Prime docuseries could have fans eagerly waiting for the next installment of the Rocky Mountain saga.

Colorado will play Colorado State in Fort Collins on Sept. 14, 2024.
