Celebrity Hunted fans fume as All4 'goes down' during opening episode

Celebrity Hunted fans were all geared up to watch the latest series kick off - only for a technical error to stop them in their tracks. The suspenseful reality show, which sees a group of famous fugitives escape from prison and attempt to live below-the-radar for 14 days, made a return to Channel 4 for a fifth series tonight (March 28).

Amongst the celebrities attempting to evade the hunters in the new series are Nic and Eva Speakman, James Acaster and Ed Gamble, Saffron Barker and Bobby Seagull, and Katya Jones and Aimee Fuller. But not everyone managed to get a slice of the nail-biting action as some fans were unable to watch the gripping first instalment.

A number of Celebrity Hunted fans expressed their frustration on social media when they could not get onto All4. "Can anyone tell me why #channel4 is offline on #all4 please?" wrote one fan on Twitter.

"I just wanted to watch Celebrity Hunted."

"Same!" another tweeted. "Just spent 30 minutes trying to get it to work. Isnt working through firestick or ps4."

"Same - I’ve been looking forward to @Hunted_HQ for ages, and now Channel 4 is offline on All4," a third said.

The first episode of the fifth series made for suspenseful viewing, with the fans that could access the show being left on the edge of their seats as the 10 celebrities made a beeline for freedom. Viewers were particularly tickled by comedic duo Acaster and Gamble, who decided to sit down for a fancy meal before getting a waitress to drop them off in Birmingham, where Acaster walked around shoeless in a pink wig.

Meanwhile, Jones and Fuller made their getaway on a moped with a sidecar, which they used to get to a car salesroom, narrowly escaping being caught by hunters as they were escorted away from the building in the back of a Mercedes.
