CCTV released after incident on Edinburgh-bound train where woman spat on passenger

Police are hunting for a woman who spat on another passenger on an Edinburgh bound train.

The woman was onboard an Avanti service from London Euston to Edinburgh at around 7pm on Friday. Poilce have said the victim was travelling with her boyfriend, and was spat on by a young woman who left the train at Carlisle.

They believe the woman in the CCTV image could help with their investigation, reports the Daily Record.

A spokesperson for the force said: "If you recognise her, or have any information, please contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 630 of 09/06/23.

Police are keen to speak to this woman and hope she can help with inquiries (British Transport Police)

"Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
