Carol Vorderman breaks down in tears in first look at I'm A Celeb underwater trial

Carol Vorderman is set to break down in tears as she takes on an underwater trial on I'm A Celebrity South Africa.

The former Countdown star, 62, will brace herself for a terrifying Tanks of Torment trial during the latest episode of the ITV spin-off on Tuesday night.

In camp, Myleene Klass reads out a Bush Bulletin which reveals Carol is the chosen celeb for the task.

She has to pick another campmate to join her on the challenge and so she opts to take Fatima Whitbread along with her.

Arriving at the trial, Ant tells them: "This is Tanks of Torment.

"Carol, it’s your job to swim through the four sections of the tank, collecting stars as you go.”

Dec adds: “You will only be able to move through the sections once Fatima has raised the doors that separate them.”

Once she makes it through the trial Carol gets very emotional as she reflects on what she has just done.

During her time in the I'm A Celeb camp for the pre-recorded show, Carol struck up a bond with Helen Flanagan.

Helen, 32, split from partner of 13-years Scott Sinclair, 34, last year.

The couple have three children together – Matilda, 7, Delilah, 4, and son Charlie, 1.

“Helen told Carol on the show that she and Scott had split up, but asked her to keep it a secret,” a source told OK! Magazine.

“It really brought the two of them close together. And Carol had lots of advice for her on being a single parent.”

I'm A Celebrity...South Africa viewers have been watching Helen grow closer and closer to mum-of-two Carol since the show kicked off last month.

The former Coronation Street star said to be 'relying' on the Countdown icon for 'advice' when riddled with doubts about whether she and Scott made the right decision to end their relationship.

“They’ve remained good friends since filming ended and see each other regularly. Helen sees Carol in a motherly role, and knows she can rely on her for some words of wisdom if she’s having a tough day," the insider added.

Helen is said to also be relying on newly-single Christine McGuinness for support.

Last year, Christine ended her 11-year marriage with Top Gear host Paddy McGuinness, and has been enjoying single life ever since.
