Canadian Police Make Arrests In Sikh Leader's Slaying

Canadian police announced on Friday that three arrests have been made in connection with the killing of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in suburban Vancouver last June. The incident, which involved masked gunmen in Surrey outside Vancouver, has been a focal point of a diplomatic dispute with India.

Assistant Commissioner David Teboul of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed the arrests and charges against the suspects but refrained from disclosing details regarding the evidence or motive. Teboul emphasized that the investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau previously stirred controversy in September by suggesting the existence of 'credible allegations' implicating Indian involvement in Nijjar's killing. This assertion led to a sharp rebuttal from India, which vehemently denied any role in the incident.
