Camila Cabello reveals she dropped out of The Voice to 'meet One Direction'

Camila Cabello dropped out of The Voice auditions to join The X Factor because she wanted to meet the One Direction boys.

The singer only got up to the producer round of auditions for The Voice when she decided to hop over to Simon Cowell's flagship programme in 2012.

Camila, 25, who has gone full circle and is now one of the judges on The Voice, caught the eye of Simon Cowell who popped her in former girl band Fifth Harmony.

The group finished 3rd place on the U.S version's second season and they went on to win an American Music Award and four MTV Video Music Awards during their six years in the spotlight.

Speaking of her time on The Voice, she told Access: "I did make it in the producer round, not the TV round. I never auditioned for the coaches.

"And then I was like, I really wanted to meet One Direction, and I knew that they were gonna perform for X Factor.

"So I was like, 'I'm just gonna risk it and not do The Voice and audition for X Factor.' And then I did end up meeting One Direction," Cabello added.

One Direction had competed on the show in 2010, but Camila knew that if she could make it into Simon's gang, she would eventually end up meeting the band,

"It's a pretty wild move," she said of her decision to leave The Voice.

"It's like it was a magnet, I was meant to be back," she said in reference to her now being one of the judges.

Simon Cowell has teased fans after revealing that a comeback of the show "wasn't completely off the table".

"I think about 24 hours ago, I just came to a decision, which is — literally I was thinking on my own — if I had a choice, I would do it here," he told Access Hollywood's, Scott Evans. "I swear to God."

Simon said that he had been reminiscing about the fun he had with Camila and the rest of Fifth Harmony when he decided that a U.S version of the show could be something to "revisit".
