Bruce Willis’ wife Emma Hemming Willis hits out at ‘awful’ Matthew Perry death discourse

Emma Heming Willis says she has been shocked by the “awful” attention Matthew Perry's death has drawn and urged followers and fans to let him “rest in peace”.

The Friends actor, who openly spoke of his past battles with drug and alcohol addiction, died aged 54 at his Los Angeles home on Saturday in an apparent drowning.

Since then, there has been mass speculation as to the circumstances of his death, photos have been published of his grieving parents, and a recording of the emergency services call made prior to his passing has been made public.

Now, Heming Willis, whose husband Bruce worked with Perry multiple times on screen, has voiced her concern over the growing circus around the star’s death.

Emma Hemming Willis shared a statement on Instagram Stories (Instagram)

Taking to her Instagram Stories, she wrote: “I don't need to hear the 911 dispatch call. I don't need to know the autopsy report. Why? Because it's absolutely none of my business.

“This level of lookie-loo and entitlement is god awful and I will never understand it. Let this man rest in peace and show some respect. Give his family and friends grace to mourn without all this noise.”

Perry and Bruce starred together in movie The Whole Nine Yards (2000) and its sequel The Whole Ten Yards (2004).

Perry played Nicholas ‘Oz’ Oseransky, while Bruce played his neighbour Jimmy Tudeski in the comedy films.

Bruce, who has since retired from acting, also made a three-episode cameo appearance in season six of Friends, playing the character Paul Stevens after losing a bet with Perry in real life.
