Bristol City U21 player ratings vs Ipswich: Palmer-Houlden superb as Morrison shows his class

Harvey Wiles-Richards - 6

No chance with the opening goal when a glanced header found the far corner. Didn't have much to do but made a strong save in the second half to keep City ahead. A small error when he palmed an effort into the striker's path but the resulting shot hit the side netting.

Harry Leeson - 7

Improved and grew more influential as the game went on, heavily involved in the second half when he drew the foul that saw Ipswich go down to 10 men. Waved his opponent off the pitch as a parting gift. Played more on the front foot in the second 45 minutes, almost providing an assist at the back post. A few loose passes.

Callum Wood - 8

Played with the bit between his teeth, loves a strong challenge and putting his body on the line. A threat in both boxes and provided an outlet on the left side, getting forward when the opportunity allowed.

Duncan Idehen - 7

A great interception in the first half to deny a through ball - read the game well. Booked for a challenge in the second half, but made some important defensive headers when Ipswich were putting pressure on in search for an equaliser.

Zac Bell - 7

Another accomplished performance by the right-sided centre-back. Looks deceivingly strong, outmuscling his opponent who was bigger than him in stature. Ventured forward in the second half and should have scored when his deflected effort somehow flashed wide.

Ben Acey - 7

Was one of those performances where he didn't produce anything spectacular but did everything effectively and with purpose. City were on top in the middle battle and Acey's energy made a big contribution to that.

Tommy Backwell - 8

Dictated the game for long periods, winning the ball high up the field and remaining smart in possession. Drew opponents to him when he was on the ball before releasing. Quieter in the second half but gave his opponents no time on the ball.

Marlee Francois (off 72, Churchley) - 6

Started as a left wing-back and was heavily involved in the first half before moving into the middle. Had an opportunity at the back post which was well blocked. Faded as the game went on before being subbed.

Elijah Morrison - 8

Didn't really get himself into the contest in the first half while playing up front. Moved over to the left side midway through the opening 45 minutes and caused plenty of problems. Provided a great assist for City's second when his delivery found Palmer-Houlden before showing blistering pace to set up Thomas. A real talent.

Olly Thomas (off 72, Clark) - 7

Full of running, stretching the backline with his pace and allowing space for his strike partners to exploit. His hard work was rewarded with City's third when he latched onto Morrison's cross to score from around 12 yards out.

Seb Palmer-Houlden - 9

Played wide right instead of his usual role through the middle and produced the equaliser, reacting quickest inside the area. Could have had a hat-trick in the first half, but walked away with the match ball at the full-time whistle. Great movement for his second inside the area. Ipswich couldn't deal with him.
