Bongo's Bingo Newcastle Christmas show promises a festive winner with an Abba theme

The ever-popular Bongo's Bingo will come bouncing back to Newcastle in December with a run of Christmas shows promising 'more magic than Santa's Grotto'.

The regular visitor to the city, which offers fans a mad mix of bingo, wacky prizes and suprises, always keeps regulars on their toes with a changing theme to its events and a wide variety of party music. Now it has announced that the inspiration behind its upcoming eight-date festive run is Swedish supergroup Abba.

The Winner Takes It All will be running at The Boiler Shop, one of Bongo's Bingo's regular Newcastle haunts, from December 1 with shows taking place on December 2, 10 and 14 and then from December 28 running up to and including New Year's Eve, December 31. A spokesman said: "Infused with more magic than Santa’s Grotto, the shows will be stuffed like a Christmas stocking with lashings of merriment, majestic singalong music and prizes St Nicholas would approve of."

Bongo's Bingo, which earlier in the year hosted games at The Boiler Shop with a genre-mixing backdrop including N Trance, S Club, Gerry Cinnamon and an en masse karaoke of Total Eclipse of the Heart, has sustained its wild momentum ever since first bursting onto the entertainment scene in 2015.

That momentum - driven by its bingo rave antics, bizarre prizes ranging from giant cardboard cut-outs to fluffy pink unicorns plus its audience singalongs and dance-offs - was only temporarily curtailed by the pandemic, during which creator Jonny Bongo spoke to Chroniclelive about its effects on the event. And now its tours are properly back on track.

And, with the festive run 'promising to pull out every stop possible', Jonny says: “Christmas is my favourite time of the year and we are going national with The Winner Takes It All after launching it in Liverpool last Christmas. We are making our shows as good as we possibly can."

He said that alongside all the familiar Bongo’s Bingo antics on the night, crowds can expect lots of 'Christmas love' from the team too. He added: "Boiler Shop will be bouncing with this Christmas party date." Tickets for Newcastle's December events are now on sale: book here.
