Bengals make the popular idea come true in new mock draft

The Cincinnati Bengals often end up with Georgia tight end Brock Bowers in mock drafts.

It’s a fit that still makes a ton of sense even after the team added Mike Gesicki in free agency. The more, the merrier, really, at a position that will have a bigger importance in the offense after Tyler Boyd’s departure for free agency.

The simple idea of Bowers in Cincinnati influences draft odds in a big way, too. And in a new mock draft from Pro Football Focus’ Arjun Menon that takes into account those betting markets, the Bengals indeed grab the draft’s best tight end:

The Bengals could invest more in the offensive line (which is what the market is predicting now), but it’s hard to not give quarterback Joe Burrow another weapon. Bowers would provide a lot of positional flexibility, with the ability to line up inline or in the slot, forming another three-headed monster for Burrow to throw to, as has been the case since 2021.

Bowers joining the depth chart alongside Gesicki, Drew Sample and Tanner Hudson would be a nice remake for a position the team has settled for cheap budget deals at over the last few years.

Now would indeed be the time to chase a premium, high-end player at the position. But as the writeup notes, offensive line is also a major factor to consider even after the arrival of Trent Brown to play right tackle.
