BBC The One Show viewers make complaint about Bruno Tonioli over show appearance as he makes Britain's Got Talent admission

The One Show viewers were flocking to social media to make the same complaint about Bruno Tonioli's appearance on the show as he chatted about the new series of Britain's Got Talent. The 67-year-old was on the BBC One show to be interviewed by Alex Jones and Anita Rani about his new TV gig.

After leaving Strictly Come Dancing last year, it was revealed back in January that Bruno would be replacing David Walliams on the judging panel of the hit ITV talent show. Last year comedian David, 51, apologised for making “disrespectful comments” about auditioning contestants during breaks in filming the popular show in January 2020.

But appearing on The One Show on Thursday evening (April 13) ahead of the new series of BGT airing this weekend, Bruno made an admission, sharing how he had "never watched" the show before agreeing to be a judge on it. "I had no idea I was up for the job," he said on the programme.

"I had no idea. I had never seen it in my life. I never watched it." Stunned by his confession, Anita then asked Bruno if he had done his research, to which he said that he hadn't before adding: "I got the job and I was on-screen next week. I said, 'well, what are the rules?'," as Bruno told the hosts that he was told that there were "no rules" - which in turn led to a slight blunder.

Sharing his excitement over the golden buzzer, Bruno exclaimed: "Oh, I love the golden buzzer," before revealing what happened after show hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly told him there were "no rules". "Nobody told me that you were supposed to do it [press the golden buzzer] actually only once," he went on to explain, before Alex asked him how many times he pressed it, to which he responded: "Twice."

After his chat was finished, Alex and Anita turned their focus to their second guest, Priyanka Chopra, But as they spoke to the actress about her new Amazon series, Citadel, viewers were left frustrated by Bruno's actions. As she told the duo all of her family are in London while she and her husband Nick Jonas are working, Bruno cut in: “Do you need a cook? I cook Italian!

Bruno appeared to interrupt Priyanka's interview on the BBC One show (BBC)

“I’m in, I’ve got a few weeks off and I’m happy to cook. I’m hired.” Moving the conversation to her new series, Alex Jones commented: “It’s incredible we’ve seen it this afternoon. Richard Madden’s in it, Stanley Tucci, Lesley Manville- Interrupting, Bruno said: “Oh my god, all the biguns’. I’ve already researched it, I can’t wait. Russo brothers? I mean I’m telling you, blockbusters!"

@Fragglerock41 tweeted: "#Theoneshow Bruno doesn’t understand how being a guest on a show. Your bit, you speak, other guest’s bit, you don’t." @FlopsyPickle said: "Bruno really needs to be quiet, you’ve had your moment let the woman have her turn #theoneshow."

@Minchendenian fumed: "Can someone shut Bruno Tonioni up!" @1957RAB echoed: "Enough now Bruno, you’ve had your turn STFU #theoneshow." But @FLYBIRDX added in defence on the BGT star: "Leave [him] alone. You don’t get Bruno on to be a quiet door mouse #theoneshow."
