Baker Mayfield, Buccaneers Agree to Three-Year Contract, per Report

After a successful first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, quarterback Baker Mayfield has been rewarded with a big payday.

Mayfield agreed to a three-year contract worth $100 million Sunday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The deal includes $50 million in guaranteed money and can reach a maximum value of $115 million with incentives.

The 28-year-old will earn base salaries of $30 million this coming season, $30 million in ’25–$20 million of which is guaranteed–and $40 million in ’26.

Mayfield started 17 games for Tampa Bay last season, throwing for 4,044 yards and 28 touchdown passes, both career highs, and led the team to the NFC South title and a win over the Philadelphia Eagles in the wild-card round of the playoffs.

The former No. 1 pick was poised to become an unrestricted free agent after fulfilling his previous one-year contract with the Bucs.

“I wanted a chance to come back. I love coach [Todd] Bowles and the staff. I’m happy to be here, and I want to win more in the postseason,” Mayfield said of the three-year agreement, via ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Mayfield’s deal isn’t the only important piece of business the team conducted prior to the new league year, which begins Wednesday. Last week, veteran wide receiver Mike Evans, who was Mayfield’s top target in 2023, signed a two-year deal to remain in Tampa Bay through the ’25 season.
