Arsenal keen on Jeremie Frimpong transfer after Rice and Timber deals but there's a problem

Arsenal have an active interest in Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong, football.london understands, but any deal will be difficult to complete. The Dutch international has interest from numerous clubs in England and on the continent.

The Dutchman wants guarantees regarding playing time which, with several options already in the right-back area at Arsenal is expected to be a tough sell. Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Cedric Soares all remain at the club for the time being.

The club are open to offers for Cedric Soares along with a number of others in the squad such as Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga. Edu is looking to recoup a significant amount of money this summer and has started strongly with Granit Xhaka set to join Bayer Leverkusen in a deal that should earn the club €25million (£21.5million), football.london understands.

Frimpong is not the only full-back on the club’s list of potential targets. Ivan Fresneda has been of long-term interest football.london understands but no formal approach to Real Valladolid has yet been made.

Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his options at right-sided full-back and in particular add variation to the existing group. Both White and Tomiyasu offer significant defensive benefits and have developed their game in the final third more recently.

However, the likes of Frimpong, who scored eight goals and recorded seven assists in the Bundesliga last season contrasts perfectly and would provide some much-needed threat from the position. Arsenal have already agreed to invest more than £200million with Jurrien Timber, Kai Havertz and Declan Rice but spending is not expected to stop there.
