Arsenal Intensifying Search For New Forwards After Champions League Exit

Arsenal focusing on bolstering forward line after Champions League loss.

Arsenal is ramping up efforts to secure a new forward following their recent Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich. The club's quest for a semifinal spot was dashed by a 3-2 aggregate loss to the Bundesliga giants, with Joshua Kimmich's 63rd-minute header sealing their fate.

Sources indicate that Arsenal is looking to strengthen various positions but is particularly focused on bolstering their forward line. The pursuit includes both a striker and a winger to enhance their attacking options.

Recent matches have seen Kai Havertz deployed as a central striker, with Gabriel Jesus mainly used as a substitute. Eddie Nketiah, on the other hand, has not started a game since the team's defeat to Fulham on New Year's Eve.

While Arsenal had previously shown interest in Brentford's Ivan Toney, they are now exploring alternative options. One player reportedly under consideration is Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyökeres, who has impressed with 36 goals and 16 assists in 44 matches this season.

RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, a 20-year-old forward with a €50 million release clause, is another prospect on Arsenal's radar. The club has also been monitoring Wolves winger Pedro Neto as a long-term target.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has hinted at a desire to work with a smaller but higher-quality squad to facilitate more rotation, similar to the setup at Manchester City. The aim is to increase competition within the team and improve performance.

The Gunners are seeking greater depth in their squad to cope with the demands of Champions League football after a seven-year absence. Previous seasons have seen Arsenal struggle in April, impacting their league standings and overall performance.

With potential departures of fringe players like Nketiah and Reiss Nelson, Arsenal could have additional funds to bolster their squad. The club may also consider offers for midfielder Thomas Partey to further strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
