Anti-Government Protestors Breach Security Near Israeli Prime Minister's Residence

People protest against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government in Tel Aviv

On Tuesday, anti-government protestors breached security barriers near the Jerusalem residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as captured in social media videos. The videos depict a tense situation where protestors clashed with police forces.

One video shows a confrontation between police and Ayala Metzger, the daughter-in-law of one of the hostages held in Gaza. Metzger was seen being wrestled to the ground as police attempted to confiscate a megaphone she was carrying. In another video, protestors and police were seen struggling over steel barricades, with one individual even crawling beneath a police water cannon vehicle to impede its movement.

National Security Minister Ben Gvir expressed criticism towards the Israeli security services for allowing protestors to come so close to the Prime Minister's residence. Gvir highlighted his previous warnings to the head of the Shin Bet regarding the perceived lack of security measures for the Prime Minister and his family. He demanded immediate action from the Shin Bet to prioritize the security of the Prime Minister of Israel and his family, emphasizing that the breach by thousands of protestors was unacceptable.

Furthermore, the protest extended towards Israeli President Isaac Herzog's residence, indicating a broader demonstration against the government. The events underscore the heightened tensions and security challenges faced by Israeli authorities amidst ongoing protests and civil unrest.
