Ange Postecoglou has 13 untouchables at Tottenham as Daniel Levy faces major transfer clearout

With Ange Postecoglou now installed as the new permanent Tottenham head coach on a four-year contract, attention will immediately turn to the club's summer transfer business ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

The former Celtic boss has a huge job on his hands at Spurs after a season in which the Lilywhites stumbled to eighth place in the league and were knocked out of all three cup competitions earlier than they would have hoped. The club needs a major rebuild, with Postecoglou tasked with overseeing it.

Club captain Hugo Lloris looks set to depart this summer, having expressed a desire to leave. There will also be plenty of speculation around Harry Kane and his future at the club, with just one year left on his contract. Manchester United and Real Madrid have both been linked with a move for Spurs' vice-captain in what would be a major loss.

But what does the future hold for the players at the club now the Australian has taken the reins? Who will stay and who will go? football.london takes a look at the names Postecoglou will be reluctant to see leave...

Goalkeepers

With Lloris set to depart and Fraser Forster hardly pulling up trees as his replacement during this season, Postecoglou is likely to have to make big changes in this department. Brandon Austin and Alfie Whiteman will still be available of course, but Spurs are expected to need to bring in a new No.1 and possibly a new second choice, depending on how Postecoglou views Forster.

Defence

Cristian Romero is the easiest place to start here. The World Cup winner is an undoubted talent, although he has a rash side that Postecoglou will be keen to iron out. If he can get the best out of the Argentinian, he has the capability to be one of the best defenders in the league.

Elsewhere, Emerson Royal has shown he has what it takes to adapt and improve at this level and has the ability to be a big part of the first team squad. As does Pedro Porro, only signed last season from Sporting CP, he could even be pushed further forward.

Destiny Udogie will come into the side after his year-long loan with former club Udinese, while Ben Davies has always been a solid squad player, someone Postecoglou will be able to put his trust in.

Midfield

Any incoming Spurs boss would likely have built his midfield around Rodrigo Bentancur, who, alongside Kane, was one of the few shining lights of the first half of the season before his injury. Yves Bissouma showed he can cut it with some fine end-of-season displays, while Oliver Skipp enjoyed a good season.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was almost ever-present in the midfield once again and, while Postecoglou could be in the market for upgrades, he is a more than capable squad player.

Forwards

Harry Kane should not be sold, no matter the price. He's that important. So what if he leaves on a free next summer, just how priceless could his presence and his goals be to the Premier League finish come the end of the 2023/24 campaign?

Son Heung-min may not have had a great season, but form is temporary and class is permanent as they say. Dejan Kulusevski has shown glimpses of his quality, albeit not so much last season, but his deal should be made permanent and after spending £60million on Richarlison last season, the Brazilian should stay put too.
