An Cailín Ciúin, Belfast and Kin were the big winners at the Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTAs) on Saturday night, as a whole of celebrities joined Deirdre O'Kane for the virtual ceremony.
Chris Pine, Colin Farrell, Michael Moore, Roma Downey, Fionnula Flanagan and Nicola Coughlan were among the names handing out the biggest awards in Irish film and TV.
An Cailín Ciúin made history, becoming the first Irish language film to scoop the Best Film gong.
In her emotional acceptance speech, the film’s producer Cleona Ní Chrualaoi, who is married to the director Colm Bairéad, said "I think this is a watershed moment for Irish Language Cinema and we're just so proud to be part of this."
The success continued when young debutante Catherine Clinch received the Best Lead Actress Film award.
An emotional Clinch, shocked by the win, was joined by her mother who said: "Catherine said there was absolutely no way she would win so she didn't prepare anything as that would look cocky and there was no way. So thank you so much!"
Kin won Best Drama along with five other awards as the hit RTÉ show saw gongs handed to Ciarán Hinds, Clare Dunne and Sarah Keely among others.
Hinds was also honoured for his performance in Kenneth Branagh's Belfast - as he took home Best Supporting Actor in Film to add to the Best Supporting Actor in TV award for Kin.
Speaking about the ceremony IFTA CEO Áine Moriarty said:
"It was a magical night of celebration for the Irish screen industry, with the wonderful Deirdre O’Kane welcoming our guests virtually from all around the world. Congratulations to all of our nominees and winners for your achievements in what has been a record breaking year for the industry in Ireland."
