Amanda Holden takes cheeky swipe at Holly Willoughby over This Morning statement

Amanda Holden has taken a swipe at Holly Willoughby, apparently mocking the This Morning presenter's return to ITV and her statement of the Phillip Schofield scandal. Holly gave an emotional speech on This Morning on Monday as she returned after two weeks off air, for the first time since Phillip Schofield left the show after admitting having an affair with a young colleague and lying about it.

Opening her statement on Monday, Holly said: "Firstly, are you OK?"

She went on to say: "You, me and all of us at This Morning gave our love and support to someone who was not telling the truth, who acted in a way that they themselves felt that they had to resign from ITV, and step down from a career that they loved. That is a lot to process."

Taking to social media on Tuesday Amanda Holden, wearing a similar long white summer dress to the one Holly wore on Monday, said: "Hello! It is Tuesday, are you okay?"

Amanda said she was wearing a dress she'd been meaning to put on for some time.

Amanda has previously backed Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond to become the new hosts of This Morning - replacing both Phil and Holly.

Appearing on her Heart Breakfast show, co-host Jamie Theakston asked if she thinks O’Leary would be “good to replace” Schofield.

The 52-year-old said: “Yes. I think him and Alison do a great job, don’t they?”

Amid talk of a clash with Schofield, Holden said she extended an olive branch by asking to meet him for a coffee – though he “didn’t reply” – in 2019.

Also in 2019, Amanda was chosen by the voting public ahead of Holly Willoughby, Rachel Riley, the Duchess Of Sussex, and Carol Vorderman as Rear of the Year.
