Adrien Rabiot signs new Juventus contract amid Manchester United interest

French midfielder Adrien Rabiot has signed a new one-year contract extension at Juventus despite Manchester United interest.

Rabiot was due to be leaving Turin at the end of this month after his deal expired. However, the 28-year-old has penned a new contract to keep him at Juve.

MEN Sport understood United were considering reigniting their interest in Rabiot after hitting trouble with their deal for Mason Mount. Despite having agreed personal terms with the Englishman, Chelsea has so far rejected three bids from the Reds.

Last summer, Erik ten Hag had agreed a fee with Juventus for Rabiot but the deal fell through after an agreement over personal terms could not be reached. Eventually, United would sign Casemiro from Real Madrid.

Announcing the news on their website, a statement from Juve read: "And the story continues - after all there are still many roads to travel side by side and we are ready to keep running towards our goals together. Congratulations, Adrien!"

Reports earlier this month had suggested Rabiot was surprised more clubs were not interested in signing him considering his contract was coming to an end. It had seemed likely the Frenchman would leave to pursue other goals.

With the Mount deal on the rocks and Rabiot committed to another year in Serie A, attention may turn to Brighton and Hove Albion's Moises Caicedo. The Ecuadorian was interested in leaving Roberto De Zerbi's club in January but a move elsewhere failed to materialise.

The 21-year-old has a price tag of £80m but MEN Sport understands United would be open to reaching this figure due to his potential.
