A South Australian teacher accused of sexually abusing a child has had the case against him dropped.

Phillip Andrew Callen had been charged with indecently assaulting a child between January and June 2021 at Belair.

Mr Callen, who had been a relief teacher at several South Australian primary schools including Belair, Burnside and Goodwood, was subsequently banned from working or applying for work with children.

The Adelaide Magistrates Court previously heard Mr Callen would contest the charge.

The 67-year-old this week appeared in the court where he was informed legal proceedings would not continue.
